Introducing the new Simon Brady Signature Pick
Hawk Picks are really excited to announce the arrival of the Simon Brady Signature Pick. Our first tri tip mandolin pick designed in collaboration with Simon to bring you the very best in tone and playability.
Simon is a very demanding player and as a master musician needs tools that keep up with his phenomenal chops. We were tasked with creating a beautiful pick with amazing tone, good grip, low pick click and playability for both live and studio sessions.
Together with Simon we spent months working through different gauges, material, shapes and bevel options. The result is the SB Signature Pick. It’s a stunningly good pick and it’s our personal favourite go to pick at Hawk Towers! Check out the videos below to see Simon’s amazing playing and also chatting about his pick.
Simon Brady
Simon is an award winning mandolin, guitar, lap steel, dobro and ukulele player. He sings beautifully too!
Simon plays many different musical styles including bluegrass, western swing, gypsy jazz, country, country rock, folk, folk rock and rock.He works as a studio and live artist and plays for many top artists. He heads up his own projects too which include Western Valley Hot Club and Tilter Wheel. Simon also has an acoustic duo outfit that plays originals across the genres, showcasing his impressive songwriting skills. He is also a talented composer and arranger.
He is always in demand as a player because he has a unique ability to play across many different styles at the highest level. He has toured extensively through Europe and America and won awards along the way from Best International Band with the Swing Commanders to BCMA Musician of the Year 2010.
More recently Simon has been busy playing 18,000 seat venues with Philippa Hanna, making TV appearances with Janet Devlin on SKY and touring with Sarah Gayle Meech. Simon has just played with award winning Nashville singer songwriter/recording artist Bernie Nelson on an exclusive UK tour. They are back in November for the second leg so watch out for Simon and of course Bernie Nelson!!
Pick Specifications
The SB pick is a Tri tip shape with three custom bevels. Equally at home on mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar the pick excels in delivering warm organic tone and superb playability. Dimensions are as follows: Height 31mm/1.22 inches Width 31mm/1.22 inches. The SB pick is available in 1.6mm gauge and comes in our custom tortoise shell material.
